Disability Management Implementation Guide Now Available

Following receipt of many requests for a "plain-language", easy to follow, guide for employers in setting up a Disability Management Program for their workplace to meet legislative requirements as well as assist in retaining knowledgeable and skilled employees, we are pleased to provide the attached document as a pdf file available for download.

Disability Management and Return to Work is a complex field and this Guide in no way replaces detailed education programs in this area. It is provided as a Guide only to assist organizations that are attempting to create and administer a workplace program by setting out processes that need to be in place as a framework for a program. It is recommended that individuals tasked with roles and responsibilities related to Disability Management and Return to Work enroll in more detailed education programs that can assist in providing a more in-depth understanding of this field of practice.

As many of us are aware, the crucial interface between employment and poverty, with many disabled workers disproportionately affected, can only be substantially and positively impacted when we commit ourselves towards "Building a Culture of Accommodation" in the workplace whereby individuals who acquire a health impairment, are able to maintain their participation in the workforce. This guide is designed to assist in that process.
