Award Categories

Candidates must meet the minimum criteria established by the Evaluation Committee, as well as demonstrate measurable, positive outcomes for workers, employers and society. Awards are made in the following categories:

  1. Canadian Operated Organizations

    1. Small Organization / Workplace (2 to 500 workers, and may include an independent operating unit of a larger organization) with an internal disability management program
    2. Large Private Organization / Workplace (over 500 workers) with an internal disability management program
    3. Crown Corporation / Government Agency (over 500 workers) with an internal disability management program
    4. Private Sector Service Provider (disability management or return to work)
    5. Public Service Initiative by a government or statutory agency

  2. Individuals (who have contributed to Canadian Disability Management)

    1. Return to Work Coordinator / Disability Management Professional
      Qualifications: These nominees work internally, within their own organization, or externally as providers, employed by workplaces, agencies / organizations in the community or by a government agency, to provide a full range of disability management and return-to-work coordination services for workers with disabilities.
    2. Outstanding Public Leadership in Disability Management
      Qualifications: This award recognizes an outstanding individual who has demonstrated leadership, innovation, collaboration, commitment and measurable positive outcomes for workers, employers and society, either directly or indirectly.

All applications are reviewed by the Awards of Excellence Evaluation Committee, with final selection made by the Executive Steering Board. This board is chaired by the Honourable David Vickers, a Justice of the Supreme Court of British Columbia, and includes senior-level executives from sponsoring government, business and labour organizations.
