Extension of Agreements with PERKESO, Malaysia to 2031
During IFDM 2026 held in September in Scotland, extension to Agreements were signed between PERKESO (Social Security Organization) of Malaysia and NIDMAR.
Dr. Mohamed Azman, CEO of PERKESO, attended for a whirlwind 24 hours from Kuala Lumpur for this signing and a presentation during which he highlighted his country's leadership in advancing much improved RTW and Disability Management outcomes over the better part of two decades now. This success is manifested in many different ways including the fact that Malaysia now boasts 723 CDMPs, with more each year, across all sectors of their society.
As a key leader in Disability Management across south east Asia (and expanding) with almost 70 CDMPs in Indonesia alone, PERKESO's DM Education and Certification Center at the University of Malaya has successfully conducted CDMP exams for individuals from China, Australia, the Philippines, Brunei, Singapore, and now also Cambodia.
A key lesson to learn is that the Federal Government of Malaysia considers Disability Management education and certification as a "Skills in Demand" value added proposition, similar to other professions, e.g. health care, whereby individuals skilled in this space across many sectors are able, through early intervention driven RTW/DM policies and practices, reduce claim duration - hence disability-related costs - translating into improved workplace productivity, increased competitiveness, reduced Long Term Disability, while also offering disabled workers the best possible chance for continued equitable participation in all aspects of society, following onset of a mental or physical health impairment.
Visionary leadership translated now into concrete dollars and social outcomes for Malaysian society, employers, and workers.
Appreciation to our four Board members who made the trip and very much supported this momentous occasion:
