The formal launch of the Reducing Poverty Initiative took place July 25 with the announcement made by the Hon. Sheila Malcolmson, Minister of Social Development and Poverty Reduction. Other speakers supporting the Initiative included Nanaimo Mayor Leonard Krog; Shane Simpson, Chair of Executive Steering Committee for the Initiative; Ken Neumann, Co-Chair of NIDMAR; Angela Lamoureux, BCNU; and Wolfgang Zimmermann, Executive Director of NIDMAR.

The goal of this Initiative is to support individuals who have acquired a physical or mental health impairment, and their employers, in navigating the return-to-work journey.
