The National Institute of Disability Management and Research salutes the winners and finalists of the inaugural National Awards of Excellence in Disability Management. These awards recognize the outstanding achievements of organizations and individuals who have championed disability management and demonstrated measurable, positive outcomes for all stakeholders: workers, employers, unions, governments and society. By honouring examples of successful disability management, the National Awards encourage other organizations to develop disability management programs in their own workplaces.
This publication profiles the Year 2000 National Award winners and finalists. It presents examples of disability management program structures and best practices for organizations and individuals interested in learning from the programs with proven success.
The publication also includes a summary of the Code of Practice for Disability Management outlining the framework for workplace based Disability Management Programs and a summary of the handbook Disability Management in the Workplace: A Guide to Establishing a Joint Workplace Program, a practical guide to developing and implementing such a program.
